Trevor Belk, a junior at Porter Ridge High, was awarded second place in a state-wide competition to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. Trevor was enrolled in Mrs. Tyna Gautreaux's Film Production class when she issued them the challenge to create the 30-second public service announcement (PSA).
Students competing in the contest created 30 second videos that were posted to YouTube and then submitted to be judged. Each video also had to meet strict guidelines for submission and content.
Trevor filmed his video using his iPhone and then edited it in the PRHS Mac Lab using Final Cut X software. Morgan Gatrell and Trevor provided the voiceovers for the PSA.
The Stop RX Abuse Video Contest was sponsored by Attorney General Roy Cooper and the NC Department of Justice, along with the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators, the NC Association of Pharmacists, and the Governor's Institute on Substance Abuse.
