PRMS and PRHS Join Forces

On January 27, the new PRHS and PRMS Diabetic Management Forum met for the first time. The two schools have partnered to teach, encourage, and empower our students with diabetes, or students that may have a family history of diabetes.

The guest speaker on January 27 was Teresa Kanipe RN from CMC-Union; she spoke to the students about long-term complications. Mrs Kanipe used many anatomical charts and models.

All of the students verbalized "how reality is so scary" and that they want to do better with their diabetes management.

The next meeting of the forum was held on February 3, 2012. The second guest speaker was Ms. Jamie Thomas, Dietitian from CMC-Union. At this forum, students learn about eating good foods that will protect their health and meal planning.
